Copyright
Copyright is an exclusive right bestowed for a limited time upon the creators of original works of authorship by the United States federal government. This law is known as the Copyright Act of 1976, as amended, 17 U.S.C. §101-et seq.
As defined in that law, “original works of authorship fixed in any tangible medium of expression, now known or later developed, from which they can be perceived, reproduced, or otherwise communicated, either directly or with the aid of a machine or device.” Protection under this law begins when the work is expressed in a tangible medium.
