Visiones transversales de Puerto Rico y el Caribe ("Crosswise Visions of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean") is the result of a years-long international research project, with the participation of a group of historians and specialists from various disciplines in Caribbean Studies. As the title suggests, the book uses the image of being crosswise as a lens through which to explore, from multiple perspectives, the diversity implied by the Caribbean region, particularly the island of Puerto Rico. It seeks to innovate with its methodology, theoretical frameworks, critical perspectives, and rich variety of fields of study on Puerto Rico in the context of the Caribbean. The essays offer a wide spectrum of topics: slavery, urbanism, environment, identity, culture, diaspora, economy, art, literature, politics, among others.
